Philosophy and Objectives
Athens Housing Authority of the City of Athens, Alabama (Athens Housing Authority) was incorporated December 12, 1949, as a tax-exempt quasi-governmental entity under the United States Housing Act of 1937, for the purpose of decent, safe, and sanitary housing for low-income families. The Housing Authority entered into Annual Contributions Contract No. A-2424 with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the purpose of financing unit construction and the retirement of debt.
The Authority has seen dramatic revitalization and modernization of its units over the past several years. The success of Athens Housing Authority has been based on its ability to continue to meet its obligation under housing law, and its ability to build on new programs and opportunities.
The success of the Authority is directly related to the efficiency and productivity of its employees. Effective human resource management is to create an environment where employees can do their best work.
